Phosphoribulokinase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.1 Phosphotransferases with an alcohol group as acceptor > 2.7.1.19 phosphoribulokinase
Phosphoribulokinase is the Calvin-cycle regenerating kinase. It phosphorylates D-ribulose 5-phosphate on the 1-hydroxyl, releasing ADP and D-ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate, the CO2 acceptor that is carboxylated by Rubisco in the Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle. It occurs in photosynthetic bacteria, algae and plants.
