Pikromycin synthase is a Streptomyces venezuelae P-450 with relaxed regiospecificity on desosamine-containing macrolides: with narbomycin it hydroxylates at C12 (pikromycin), C14 (neopikromycin) or both (narvopikromycin); with 10-deoxymethymycin at C10 (methymycin), C12 (neomethymycin) or both (novamethymycin).
