Plasmin
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.21 Serine endopeptidases > 3.4.21.7 plasmin
Plasmin is a trypsin-family (S1) serine protease formed from plasminogen by proteolysis into multiple active forms, which preferentially cleaves Lys over Arg bonds with higher selectivity than trypsin and converts fibrin into soluble products. By dissolving fibrin clots it mediates fibrinolysis. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms.
