Polyglycylase adds glycine residues to the C-terminal tails of tubulin and other substrates: ATP plus α-tubulin plus glycine yields glycyl-α-tubulin plus ADP plus phosphate. It is a post-translational modification enzyme found in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is an ATP-grasp glycylase.
