Polyporopepsin is an aspartic endopeptidase from the basidiomycete Polyporus tulipiferae (formerly Irpex lacteus), belonging to peptidase family A1. It shows milk-clotting activity and broad specificity, but fails to cleave Leu15-Tyr or Tyr16-Leu of the insulin B chain. In the fungus it digests wood and extracellular proteins.
