Propanediol dehydratase is a coenzyme-B12-dependent or glycyl-radical C-C lyase that rearranges propane-1,2-diol into propanal and water. Two forms are known: one requires a cobamide cofactor, the other is a glycyl-radical enzyme; the cobalamin form also dehydrates ethylene glycol to acetaldehyde. It is found in Bacteria and Eukaryota and supports anaerobic 1,2-propanediol utilization. Structurally it is a B12-dependent diol dehydratase or a glycyl-radical diol dehydratase.
