Proprotein convertase 7 (PC7/LPC) is a ubiquitous subtilisin-like convertase that cleaves proteins typically at sites marked by the consensus Arg-Xaa-(Lys/Arg)-Arg sequence. By processing cell-surface and secreted precursors it participates in constitutive secretory maturation. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms.
