Prostaglandin-E synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 5 Isomerases > 5.3 Intramolecular oxidoreductases > 5.3.99 Other intramolecular oxidoreductases > 5.3.99.3 prostaglandin-E synthase
Prostaglandin-E synthase opens the epidioxy bridge of PGH2 and requires glutathione, yielding PGE2; it also converts PGA1 into PGC1. It converts (5Z,13E,15S)-9α,11α-epidioxy-15-hydroxyprosta-5,13-dienoate into (5Z,13E,15S)-11α,15-dihydroxy-9-oxoprosta-5,13-dienoate. It is found in Eukaryota and Bacteria. Structurally it is a microsomal/mGST PGE synthase.
