Proteasome ATPase
Definition:
EC Tree > 5 Isomerases > 5.6 Isomerases altering macromolecular conformation > 5.6.1 Enzymes altering polypeptide conformation or assembly > 5.6.1.5 proteasome ATPase
Proteasome ATPase belongs to the AAA superfamily and, like other AAA machines, is involved in channel gating and polypeptide unfolding before proteolysis in the proteasome; six ATPase subunits sit in the regulatory particle (RP) of the 26S proteasome. It unfolds polypeptide substrates. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a AAA+ proteasome-activating ATPase.
