N2-acetyl-L-2,4-diaminobutanoate deacetylase is a hydrolase from Halomonas elongata with no activity on (2S)-4-acetamido-2-aminobutanoate (cf. EC 3.5.4.44 ectoine hydrolase). It hydrolyzes (2S)-2-acetamido-4-aminobutanoate into L-2,4-diaminobutanoate and acetate. In the halophile it supplies diaminobutanoate for ectoine synthesis. It features a deacetylase fold.
