Proteinase P15
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.23 Aspartic endopeptidases > 3.4.23.B13 proteinase P15
Proteinase P15 is an avian myeloblastosis-associated retroviral aspartic endopeptidase. It efficiently cleaves Ala-Thr-His-Glu-Val-Tyr-Phe(NO2)-Val-Arg-Lys-Ala, with no cleavage when Ser, Arg or Glu is at P1, Gly or Phe at P2, or Pro at P3. It specifically liberates the five major structural proteins from the common gag precursor, as well as reverse transcriptase and integrase from the gag-pol precursor. In the virion it matures the retroviral particle. It features a retroviral aspartic-protease homodimer.
