Pup amidohydrolase
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.5 Acting on carbon-nitrogen bonds, other than peptide bonds > 3.5.1 In linear amides > 3.5.1.119 Pup amidohydrolase
Biotinidase is an amidohydrolase found in eukaryotes and bacteria and many bacterial species, which liberates biotin from biocytin and short biotinylated peptides (but not from biotinylated proteins) and also acts on biotin esters and amides. It hydrolyzes biotin amide into biotin and ammonia, and biocytin into biotin and L-lysine. In intestine and blood it recycles biotin. It features a serine amidohydrolase fold.
