Pyrethroid hydrolase
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.1 Acting on ester bonds > 3.1.1 Carboxylic-ester hydrolases > 3.1.1.88 pyrethroid hydrolase
Pyrethroid hydrolase is the pesticide-degrading enzyme. It hydrolyzes trans-permethrin with water, releasing 3-phenoxybenzyl alcohol and (1S,3R)-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate; microbial enzymes act cis/trans similarly, mouse enzyme prefers trans 22-fold. Expected in Eukaryota, Bacteria and Archaea.
