Pyruvate kinase is the ATP-generating glycolytic kinase. It transfers the beta-phosphoryl from PEP onto ADP (or UDP/GDP/CDP/IDP/dADP), releasing pyruvate and ATP, the final substrate-level phosphorylation step of glycolysis. It also phosphorylates hydroxylamine and fluoride in the presence of CO2. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
