Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.1 Phosphotransferases with an alcohol group as acceptor > 2.7.1.5 rhamnulokinase
Rhamnulokinase is the L-rhamnose-utilization kinase. It phosphorylates L-rhamnulose on the 1-hydroxyl, releasing ADP and L-rhamnulose 1-phosphate, feeding rhamnose fermentation and bacterial cell-wall sugar metabolism. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
