Riboflavin synthase is a flavoprotein that catalyzes the final step of riboflavin biosynthesis. It dismutates two molecules of 6,7-dimethyl-8-(1-D-ribityl)lumazine, releasing one molecule of riboflavin and one of 4-(1-D-ribitylamino)-5-amino-2,6-dihydroxypyrimidine. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms and produces vitamin B2.
