Ribonuclease D

Definition:

EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.1 Acting on ester bonds > 3.1.13 Exoribonucleases producing 5′-phosphomonoesters > 3.1.13.5 ribonuclease D
Ribonuclease D is the tRNA-3'-processing Mg/Mn/Co exonuclease. It requires divalent cations, removes extra residues from the 3'-terminus of tRNA precursors releasing 5'-mononucleotides; 3'-phosphate-terminated tRNA is inactive and 3'-terminal sugar modification strongly affects activity. Expected in Bacteria and Eukaryota.
