S-Linalool synthase is a Mn2+-/Mg2+-dependent monoterpene cyclase. Neither (S)- nor (R)-linalyl diphosphate can serve as substrate for the Clarkia breweri flower enzyme; unlike many monoterpene synthases it forms only a single product, (3S)-linalool. With water it converts geranyl diphosphate into (3S)-linalool and diphosphate. It is found in Eukaryota and Bacteria. Structurally it is a monoterpene synthase.
