EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.1 Acting on ester bonds > 3.1.7 Diphosphoric-monoester hydrolases > 3.1.7.4 sclareol cyclase
Sclareol cyclase is a diterpene cyclase activity now recognised as two separate enzymes, copal-8-ol diphosphate synthase (EC 4.2.1.133) and sclareol synthase (EC 4.2.3.141), acting in the pathway that produces the labdane diterpene sclareol used in perfume and tobacco flavouring. By cyclising geranylgeranyl diphosphate it supports plant diterpene resin biosynthesis.
