SENP2 peptidase
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.22 Cysteine endopeptidases > 3.4.22.B71 SENP2 peptidase
SENP2 peptidase is a SUMO-specific cysteine protease found in viruses and cellular organisms, processing full-length SUMO-1, SUMO-2 and SUMO-3 to maturity and deconjugating them from target proteins. It deconjugates SUMO-2 from the mitotic kinase Aurora-B and SUMO-1 from Mdm2, a protein critical for genome integrity in the p53-dependent stress response, and cleaves the Gly97-/-His98 bond. In cells it controls mitotic progression and p53 stress signaling. It features a SENP-family catalytic domain.
