Sesquithujene synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 4 Lyases > 4.2 Carbon-oxygen lyases > 4.2.3 Acting on phosphates > 4.2.3.102 sesquithujene synthase
Sesquithujene synthase is a Mg2+/Mn2+-dependent sesquiterpene cyclase from Zea mays cv. Delprim. It cyclizes (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate mainly into sesquithujene plus (S)-beta-bisabolene and (E)-beta-farnesene plus traces of other sesquiterpenoids (cf. EC 4.2.3.55 and EC 4.2.3.47). Product ratio depends on the metal ion. Structurally it is a class I sesquiterpene cyclase.
