Sortase B
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.22 Cysteine endopeptidases > 3.4.22.71 sortase B
Sortase B is a bacterial transpeptidase in peptidase family C60 that anchors surface proteins bearing an NPXTN sorting motif. It cleaves the motif between Thr and Asn, and covalently attaches the resulting threonine carboxyl end to a pentaglycine cross-bridge of peptidoglycan. In Gram-positive bacteria it is typically associated with iron acquisition proteins and heme transport. It features a cysteine-transpeptidase fold related to sortase A.
