Sortase C
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.22 Cysteine endopeptidases > 3.4.22.B63 sortase C
Sortase C is a bacterial transpeptidase found in viruses and cellular organisms. The Bacillus anthracis enzyme cleaves the LPNT-/-A sorting signal of BasH and BasI, anchoring both polypeptides to the cell wall envelope of sporulating bacilli; the Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus faecalis enzymes are required for efficient pilus assembly. In Gram-positive bacteria it builds pili and surface protein arrays. It features a cysteine-transpeptidase fold.
