Staphyloferrin A synthase (SbnF) requires Mg2+. Characterized from Staphylococcus aureus, it is the type-A NIS enzyme that catalyzes the last step of staphyloferrin A biosynthesis, condensing N5-[(S)-citryl]-D-ornithine with a second citrate: ATP plus N5-[(S)-citryl]-D-ornithine plus citrate yields AMP plus diphosphate plus staphyloferrin A. Structurally it is a type-A NIS synthase.
