Staphyloferrin B synthase (SbnH) requires Mg2+. Characterized from Staphylococcus aureus, it is the type-B NIS enzyme that catalyzes the last step of staphyloferrin B biosynthesis, recognizing the δ-carboxyl group of 2-oxoglutarate and forming the final 2-oxoglutaryl linkage. Structurally it is a type-B NIS synthase.
