Taurochenodeoxycholate 6alpha-hydroxylase

Definition:

EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.14 Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen > 1.14.14 With reduced flavin or flavoprotein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor > 1.14.14.57 taurochenodeoxycholate 6alpha-hydroxylase
Taurochenodeoxycholate 6α-hydroxylase is a cytochrome P-450 requiring cytochrome b5 for maximal activity; it acts on taurochenodeoxycholate and taurodeoxycholate (less readily lithocholate and chenodeoxycholate), producing taurohyocholate and hyodeoxycholate, and in adult pig hyocholic acid replaces cholic acid as a primary bile acid.
