Thermospermine synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.79 thermospermine synthase
Thermospermine synthase is a plant polyamine-biosynthesis aminopropyltransferase. It transfers the 3-aminopropyl group from S-adenosyl 3-(methylsulfanyl)propylamine onto spermidine, releasing S-methyl-5'-thioadenosine and H+ and forming thermospermine. It is crucial for proper function of xylem vessel elements in plant vascular tissues. It occurs in Eukaryota and Archaea.
