Trans-4-hydroxycyclohexanecarboxylate dehydrogenase

Definition:

EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.1 Acting on the CH-OH group of donors > 1.1.1 With NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor > 1.1.1.226 trans-4-hydroxycyclohexanecarboxylate dehydrogenase
Trans-4-hydroxycyclohexanecarboxylate dehydrogenase, from Corynebacterium cyclohexanicum, is highly specific for the trans-4-hydroxy derivative. Using NAD+, it oxidizes trans-4-hydroxycyclohexane-1-carboxylate to 4-oxocyclohexane-1-carboxylate, concomitantly reducing NAD+ to NADH and releasing H+. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
