Triptophenolide beta-glucosyltransferase is a glycosyltransferase characterized from Tripterygium wilfordii (Thunder of God vine). It transfers a beta-D-glucosyl residue from UDP-beta-D-glucose onto the 14-hydroxyl of triptophenolide, releasing UDP and producing triptophenolide 14-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside. It participates in the glycosylation of the diterpene triptophenolide, a precursor of the immunosuppressant and anti-inflammatory compound triptolide.
