Tryprostatin B synthase is a dimethylallyltransferase from Aspergillus fumigatus that catalyzes the transfer of a prenyl group from prenyl diphosphate onto brevianamide F, releasing diphosphate and producing tryprostatin B. Prenylation occurs mainly at C-2 of the indole but also at C-3. The enzyme can also prenylate other tryptophan-containing cyclic dipeptides and participates in the biosynthetic pathways of several indole alkaloids such as tryprostatins, cyclotryprostatins, spirotryprostatins, fumitremorgins and verruculogen. It is characterized from Aspergillus subgen. Fumigati.
