UMP/CMP kinase

Definition:

EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.4 Phosphotransferases with a phosphate group as acceptor > 2.7.4.14 UMP/CMP kinase
UMP/CMP kinase is the eukaryotic bifunctional pyrimidine-nucleotide kinase. It phosphorylates both CMP and UMP at similar efficiency on the 5'-diphosphate step, releasing UDP (and CDP); dCMP can also act. It differs from the monofunctional prokaryotic EC 2.7.4.25 (d)CMP kinase and EC 2.7.4.22 UMP kinase. Expected in Eukaryota and Bacteria.
