Unspecific peroxygenase is a heme-thiolate P-450 glycoprotein secreted by agaric basidiomycetes. It inserts one oxygen atom from H2O2 into a wide variety of substrates—aromatic rings such as naphthalene, toluene, phenanthrene, pyrene and p-nitrophenol, as well as recalcitrant heterocycles—converting RH to ROH plus H2O, without needing NAD(P)H or O2.
