Valerianol synthase is a sesquiterpene cyclase characterized from Camellia hiemalis and Camellia sinensis (tea). The C. hiemalis enzyme produces (2Z,6E)-hedycaryol as a minor product. With water it converts (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into valerianol and diphosphate. Structurally it is a sesquiterpene cyclase.
