Verruculogen synthase

Definition:

EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.14 Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen > 1.14.11 With 2-oxoglutarate as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into each donor > 1.14.11.38 verruculogen synthase
Verruculogen synthase is an Fe2+- and ascorbate-dependent 2-oxoglutarate oxygenase from Aspergillus fumigatus (subgenus Fumigati), involved in indole alkaloid biosynthesis (e.g. fumitremorgin A); both atoms of O2 are incorporated into verruculogen. It converts fumitremorgin B with 2-oxoglutarate, 2 O2 and a reduced acceptor into verruculogen, releasing succinate, CO2, H2O and the oxidized acceptor.
