Definition:

EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.13 Dipeptidases > 3.4.13.9 Xaa-Pro dipeptidase
Xaa-Pro dipeptidase is a Mn2+-activated cytosolic enzyme from most animal tissues, in peptidase family M24 (methionyl aminopeptidase family), which hydrolyses Xaa-Pro dipeptides and also acts on aminoacyl-hydroxyproline analogues, but has no action on Pro-Pro. By cleaving Xaa-Pro dipeptides it completes degradation of proline-rich peptides. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms.
