Biological Activity: Cholera autoinducer 1 (CAI-1) is the major autoinducer in quorum sensing of V. cholerae. Cholera autoinducer 1 accumulates extracellularly as cell density increases, can be detected by V. cholerae, and signals through CqsS to regulate gene expression and inhibit biofilm formation and virulence factor production. Cholera autoinducer 1 can be used for cholera research[1][2][3].
