Biological Activity: MTS is a tetrazolium salt used as a colorimetric indicator. In the presence of PMS, MTS can be reduced by viable cells to generate a formazan product, which can be measured colorimetrically. When used in combination with tritiated thymidine, MTS can distinguish cell viability from proliferation and detect the viability and proliferation of lymphokine-dependent cell lines[1].
