Biological Activity: 5(6)-Carboxyeosin-diacetate is a cell membrane-permeable biological dye, primarily used for detecting and modulating intracellular calcium-related processes. 5(6)-Carboxyeosin-diacetate acts as an inhibitor of plasma membrane calcium ATPase (PMCA), affecting intracellular calcium homeostasis by inhibiting calcium efflux. 5(6)-Carboxyeosin-diacetate, in its diacetate form, enters cells and is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases to remove the acetate groups, releasing active Carboxyeosin, which inhibits plasma membrane Ca2+-ATPase through its ATPase activity, thereby inhibiting Ca2+ efflux and altering intracellular Ca2+ concentration. The fluorescence detection wavelength of 5(6)-Carboxyeosin-diacetate is approximately Ex/Em = 519/542 nm[1][2][3][4].
