Biological Activity: Cascaroside A is a naturally occurring anthraquinone glycoside compound. Cascaroside A can be hydrolyzed to yield barbaloin, which upon reaction with ferric chloride produces Aloe emodin (HY-N0189). Cascaroside A serves as a marker compound for the quantitative determination of anthraquinone content in the bark extract of Rhamnus purshiana DC.[1][2].
