Biological Activity: Δ1-Pyrroline-2-carboxylic acid (Pyr2C) sodium is a cyclic imino acid involved in proline metabolism. Within cells, Δ1-Pyrroline-2-carboxylic acid sodium can be directly reduced to proline, supporting the growth of proline-auxotrophic strains of Escherichia coli. Δ1-Pyrroline-2-carboxylic acid sodium also serves as an intermediate in organic synthesis and can be used to synthesize L-pipecolic acid (HY-W012734)[1][2].
