Biological Activity: Triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) is a biocatalyst that interconverts dihydroxyacetone phosphate and D-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate. Triosephosphate isomerase utilises Glu167 as catalytic base, mediates proton shuttling, and stabilises a cis-enediolate intermediate via loop-6 and loop-7 closure to shield its catalytic site.
