Ceruloplasmin
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Ceruloplasmin is a copper-binding ferroxidase and serum copper carrier. Ceruloplasmin promotes FPN1-mediated iron export by catalyzing ferrous iron oxidation, maintains the protein stability of ferroportin, and assists transferrin and lactoferrin in completing iron binding; it regulates HIF, AMPK, PPARα, and PGC1α, exerting antioxidant effects and inhibiting ferroptosis (Ferroptosis). Ceruloplasmin can be used in research on posthemorrhagic anemia, hemolytic anemia, neurodegenerative diseases, NAFLD, metabolic diseases, hereditary aceruloplasminemia, hepatocellular carcinoma, and ischemia-reperfusion injury.

In Vitro
Ceruloplasmin overexpression inhibits Erastin/RSL3-induced ferroptosis in HepG2 and Hep3B cells, reducing iron, MDA, and lipid ROS by approximately half[9].
Ceruloplasmin inhibits Erastin/RSL3-induced ferroptosis in HepG2 and Hep3B cells in an FPN-dependent manner[9].
Ceruloplasmin (0.25‑1.25 μM) exhibits ferroxidase activity of 0.8 s⁻¹ at 25 °C in the absence of Cl⁻ and 1.2 s⁻¹ in the presence of 100 mM NaCl[5].
Ceruloplasmin enhances PPARα target promoter activity and PGC1α/PPARα promoter recruitment upon depletion in the AML12/hepatocyte reporter gene assay, whereas Ceruloplasmin overexpression inhibits PPAR agonist GW9578 (HY-117196)-induced reporter gene activity[6].
Ceruloplasmin reduces the SCO1-AMPK interaction upon overexpression in HEK293T Co-IP experiments, without directly entering the SCO1-LKB1-AMPK complex[6].
Ceruloplasmin expression is inhibited by Erastin (HY-15763) and RSL3 (HY-100218A) in HepG2 and Hep3B cells, and copper supplementation does not alter this downregulation[9].
