Diisobutyl carbinol
Diisobutyl carbinol is an orally active organic solvent widely used as an industrial intermediate. Diisobutyl carbinol is rapidly absorbed in vivo and undergoes metabolic interconversion with Diisobutyl ketone.

Description
In Vivo
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
-
Animal Model:SD rats (cannulated and uncannulated, ~250 g, 9-10 weeks of age)[1]
-
Dosage:700 mg/kg
-
Administration:i.g.; single administration; hrepetitive blood samples were collected from 5 min-120 post-dosing
-
Result:Was well absorbed following oral gavage with substantial evidence of enterohepatic recirculation.
Diisobutyl carbinol and DIBK were interconverted metabolically in rats.
Showed lower systemic bioavailability than DIBK, which might be due to a higher rate of Phase II conjugation and biliary elimination, or lower oral absorption.
