(E)-Oct-2-enoic acid is an α,β-unsaturated fatty acid. (E)-Oct-2-enoic acid can be isolated from volatile components of royal jelly, extracts of worker bee heads and mandibular glands, and extracts of mated queen bee heads. Whether used alone or in combination with (E)-9-oxodec-2-enoic acid (HY-W340009), (E)-Oct-2-enoic acid shows no attractiveness to worker bees in queenless colonies.
