Malabaric acid
Malabaric acid is a cyclooxygenase inhibitor that inhibits COX-1 (IC50 = 11.5 µM) and COX-2 (IC50 = 46.9 µM). Malabaric acid inhibits lipid peroxidation and can be used in antioxidant research.

In Vitro
Malabaric acid (10.3-164.8 µM; 21 min) inhibits lipid peroxidation in a liposome-based LPO assay, with an IC50 of 100.3 µM[1].
Malabaric acid (41.2-329.6 µM; 24 h) exhibits moderate MTT-reducing antioxidant activity in a cell-free MTT assay, with an IC50 of 192 µM[1].
