Procyanidin B2‑3′‑O‑gallate (B2-3′-G; Epicatechin-(4β,8)-epicatechin gallate) is an orally active polyphenolic natural product with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and intestinal mucosal barrier-repairing activities. Procyanidin B2‑3′‑O‑gallate protects BRL‑3A hepatocytes against ethanol-induced injury by activating the Nrf2‑HO‑1/NQO1 antioxidant pathway. Procyanidin B2‑3′‑O‑gallate is a potent xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor. Procyanidin B2‑3′‑O‑gallate reduces ultraviolet-induced formation of α-tocopherol. Procyanidin B2‑3′‑O‑gallate attenuates body weight loss, decreases the disease activity index, and alleviates colonic histopathological injury in mice with DSS-induced ulcerative colitis. Procyanidin B2‑3′‑O‑gallate can be used in research related to inflammatory diseases such as ulcerative colitis [3].
