TPA-IM is an Aβ40-binding inhibitor with a Ka of 12.7 nM. TPA-IM inhibits amyloid-β fibrillation and disrupts preformed fibrils. TPA-IM inhibits intracellular ROS production, restores mitochondrial membrane potential, attenuates amyloid-β-induced apoptosis (apoptosis), and rescues amyloid-β-induced loss of neuronal viability. TPA-IM self-assembles into spherical nanoaggregates and co-assembles with amyloid-β, redirecting aggregation toward non-fibrillar structures. TPA-IM can be used for research on Alzheimer's disease .
