Urdamycin A is an Angucycline-class Antibiotic. Urdamycin A can be derived from Streptomyces fradiae, S. fradiae Tu2717, and S. ardesiacus. Urdamycin A inhibits Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria. Urdamycin A lacks antifungal activity. Urdamycin A has anticancer activity against leukemia.

Urdamycin A inhibits proliferation of murine L1210 leukemia cells with an IC₅₀ of 2.4 μg/mL^[1].
Urdamycin A inhibits L1210 leukemia cells in a stem cell assay with an IC₅₀ of 0.55 μg/mL^[1].
Urdamycin A and derhodinosylurdamycin A exhibit IC₅₀ values of 0.55 μg/mL and 0.75 μg/mL, respectively, against murine L1210 leukemia stem cells^[2].

Urdamycin A (1 mg/mL) shows antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria but no antifungal activity, with the largest inhibition (24 mm) against Bacillus subtilis⁺⁺ and Streptomyces viridochromogenes (Tü 57)^[1].
