1,1'-(Azodicarbonyl)-dipiperidine (ADDP; SR 4077) is an oxidizing reagent for intracellular reducing agents and a chemical coupling reagent. 1,1'-(Azodicarbonyl)-dipiperidine exhibits biological activities such as pro-oxidation, radiosensitization, and induction of apoptosis, and can serve as a Mitsunobu reaction catalyst for chemical synthesis. 1,1'-(Azodicarbonyl)-dipiperidine oxidizes and depletes intracellular reducing pools such as GSH, leading to protein thiol oxidation and oxidative stress, thereby inhibiting DNA single-strand break repair or altering membrane function, ultimately mediating apoptosis signaling and increasing radiosensitivity. 1,1'-(Azodicarbonyl)-dipiperidine can be used in research on pulmonary arterial hypertension, lymphoma, and teratocarcinoma.
