2,4-Dibromo-6-chlorophenol
Based on 1 Customer Validation
2,4-Dibromo-6-chlorophenol is a broad-spectrum halogenated phenolic antifungal agent that inhibits methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Burkholderia cepacia, and marine biofouling bacteria, but has no inhibitory effect on Escherichia coli. 2,4-Dibromo-6-chlorophenol can be isolated from cultures of Pseudovibrio luteolus associated with Padina australis, and also exists as a chlorinated bromophenol transformation product during the aqueous chlorination of dibromophenol and as a phenolic halogenated disinfection byproduct in simulated chlorinated drinking water. 2,4-Dibromo-6-chlorophenol can be used in research on cystic fibrosis.
